Happy 4th of July!
It’s always neat celebrating the 4th of July on an American base overseas. Unfortunately our firework display got rained out but the rain didn’t stop us from having a great day in Misawa.
Today we went over to the Misawa Museum of Science and Aviation. I remember going there 20 years ago and having fun. This time around they have even cooler activities and everyone had a blast!
The beginning of the museum features a history tribute to the first non stop transpacific flight. It left out of Misawa, Japan; traveled for 41 hours and landed in Wenatchee, WA. They are sister cities that share a love of apples.
After that, Lily, Liam, Kevin, and my dad took flight in a harness contraption around the main museum (they all said it was epic!) We played with sound, wind, flight simulations, gravity, weight, speed, anti gravity and much more. We had such a blast and left the rain outside. We had a simple dinner on base with pizza, tacos, and burrito bowls: definitely an American ending to a fun day.
