This morning we got a later start because we needed to figure out how to pack our very tightly packed car. After much Jenga maneuvering, we finally found a configuration that would sorta work (until Jessica bought a rice cooker…but that’s a different story).
We decided to check out the Tohoku History Museum in Sendai. It was a great historical overview of the area from the Stone Age up to modern times. My two favorite sections was the Stone Age section and the section about the local festival/deities.
There was also a relocated farm house that was cool to walk around and take neat photos in a traditional setting.
After the museum we were starving and headed over to a hibachi grill restaurant that took us over 30 minutes to translate most of the menu and then order from an iPad. The food was delicious but definitely a challenge to order.
We had time to kill before going to a baseball game so we wandered around a Japanese electronic store where Jessica bought a rice cooker (not the smallest of items with plans to ship from the base once we arrive up in Misawa).
Next up was the Rakuten Eagles! We had such a blast at the baseball game but unfortunately had to leave by the 6th inning so we could make the two hour drive north to Morioka for our next destination.
