Day 2: Day two was a day for exploring. We first had to figure out the subway: everyone but Lily was able to get the rail card right on our phones; however, because Lily isn’t 13 yet we had to get her a physical card which took a little time. The subway is always fun. Our first stop was the Imperial Palace that is still the residence of the Emperor. We were only allowed to walk around the grounds, but they are quite stunning!
After the Palace, we needed food and after a failed attempt at Coco’s, we ended up at a steak grill that was delicious!
Liam was dying to walk around the anime district so we split up for a few hours. Liam and Kevin wandered around some game stores and the rest of us explored an anime shopping experience and then ended up at an electronics store. Lily found the coolest micro camera that takes great pictures that we’ve been having a lot of fun with playing round.
From there we went to a huge Buddhist temple to walk around, explore the grounds, and get our fortunes. Liam was the only one that got a bad fortune so he tied it up and left it there (it’s the tradition if you get a bad fortune to leave it behind and only take good fortunes with you).
Mom and dad took off to get a light dinner back at the hotel and we continued meandering around a few of the shops and then got McDonalds for dinner. It’s tradition for the 4 of us to try McDonalds once in each country because everywhere has something a little different. After that we were all exhausted from another busy day and headed back to get some much needed sleep.
